Inspired by Gospel values of faith, hope, Christian love, and the spiritual charisms of charity, humility and prayer, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. John the Baptist Conference, leads people to join together to love and serve God, by offering person-to-person service to our neighbors in need, and by growing spiritually as disciples of Christ.
Person to Person Service: We maintain a message line that people can call for help with food, utilities, rent, and household items. We respond to calls by visiting the family in their home to discuss their current need, go over their budget, and to help them find other resources and ways out of poverty. We then address a critical need such as utility or rent payment by paying the provider or landlord directly
Food Pantry: On the first and third Saturdays of the month, 10 AM - 11 AM, we provide food to low-income families, disabled and senior households and the homeless twice per month. In addition to canned and dry items, we provide milk, eggs, meat, and produce.
We serve the parish community of St. John the Baptist in El Cerrito and Richmond, and surrounding areas in western Contra Costa
