Sacrament of Communion (Eucharist) is a sacrament, a sacrifice, and the abiding presence of Jesus himself, God and man. He is truly and completely present under the appearance of bread and wine, to make us more like Himself and to join us to one another.
Students must be enrolled in a Faith Formation Program or in a Catholic School at least 1 year prior to receiving their sacraments of First Communion. Usually, children in First Grade start preparing to receive the sacrament and in Second Grade they celebrate the sacrament of Communion for the first time. The Eucharist classes draw children and their families into a deep experience of Eucharist which helps them love more fully their Catholic faith. Parents/Guardians take part in preparing their child for the reception of both these Sacraments. A copy of the student’s baptismal certificate is required for all those who are preparing to celebrate First Communion.
